Information About The Jaguar Motorsport Division:Jaguar vehicles had major success in sports car racing, especially in the Le Mans 24 Hours event. Victories
came in 1951 and 1953 with the C-Type car model, then in 1955, 1956 and 1957 with the D-Type model. The
head of the racing department during this period, Lofty England, became CEO of Jaguar in the early 1970s.
Although the Jaguar XJ13 was developed in the mid-1960s it was never competed in any race, and the famous
race was forgotten for years to come, until in the mid-1980s when Tom Walkinshaw's TWR team has built and
prepared Jaguar V12-engined sports cars for European sports car events. The team started winning from 1987,
and with big efforts the team won at Le Mans in 1988 and 1990.
In the 1999, Ford decided that Jaguar would be the corporation's Formula One entry. Ford bought the Stewart
Grand Prix team and renamed it as Jaguar Racing Team. The Jaguar F1 division was a kind of failure, obtaining
only two podium titles in five seasons of racing.
At the end of 2004, with accumulated costs and Ford's lowering profits, the Formula One team was seen as
an in-vain-expense and was sold to Red Bull company, and rebranded as Red Bull Racing Team. Since 2004,
Jaguar has not had an official factory participation in car racing events.
