Elephant Animal Description:

Elephant is part of the family Proboscidea (animals with trunk ). The elephant is the largest
land animal. The gestation period for an elephant is 22 months, the longest from other
animals. At birth the baby weight around 120 kg. They live on average between 50 and 70
years, but the oldest elephant was 82 years old.

The largest elephant ever found was found in Angola in 1956. This male weighed about
11,000 pounds and have a height of 3.96 meters. Elephants are a symbol of wisdom in
Asian cultures and are renowned for their intelligence and memory. Aristotle once said
the elephant is "the beast that surpasses all others in wit and mind".
